Statement

The squares on the exterior of the mantle represent rural and small town life during the middle of the 20th century. Just as the land is fenced into plots and each plot is designated for a specific use, it seemed to me that the community was dictating my life.

The multi-colored lining represents the possibilities that opened to me when I moved to the Big City and the ever-widening options available as the century matured into the new millennium.
