Statement

It started with wool yarn, which I wove to create cloth. As the threads weave under and over, they make many points of contact. They work together to make fabric just as the elements of nature connect to create and maintain life on our planet.

On the back the Tree of Life design from India is worked in the fanciful crewel embroidery of 16th and 17th century England. On the front stand man and women reaching to support each other. These panels represent life in general.

A more intimate, specific life is recorded in the lining. Here are the women of the Nevin, McRae, Deremo, and Dupuis families, my ancestors and contemporaries, who have created and nurtured my life. Together we will pass life on to the future. I hope it will harmonize with the laws of nature and be good.
