Sh-h-h…it’s a secret!
I am sensitive about the word “crazy”.
Mental illness is a thread that runs through my family history. It is just as devastating a diagnosis as cancer or heart disease. It should be treated and discussed like any physical illness.
We need new medicines, therapies and health care options. We need to stop stigmatizing and penalizing people with mental illness. Most of all we need to change the mindset of the community. Let’s bring “it” out of the closet and into the open.
Let’s stop whispering.
