Statement
Yes, I am a tree hugger. My mask symbolizes the plight of the monarch butterfly. The loss of this beautiful species is symbolic of what is happening to our planet. Clear cutting, elimination of natural habitats, and global warming are all symptoms of a sick planet. Working on this project not only gave me an opportunity to experiment with the challenge of new materials, but also allowed me to really think about what I wanted my mask to represent. If we don’t act now, there may be no planet Earth for future generations. Don’t all of our children and grandchildren deserve fresh air and fresh water? Each of us, in our small way, can make a difference. What can you do to help? |
