Statement
Coral reefs provide protection and shelter for many species of fish and mollusks, annually feeding 30 - 40 million people. They also make beautiful pets, and catching and selling these animals provides many people with income to feed their families. Umbrellas make me think of protection, so I used this project to promote awareness of the dangers for coral reefs. The topside of the umbrella shows dying reefs and Egyptian goddess, Nut, arching over the earth to help protect waters and reefs. The underside shows a protected, thriving and colorful reef, and the umbrella handle is a snorkel, representing memories of viewing beautiful reefs in Hawaii and the Caribbean. You can help PROTECT CORAL REEFS! |
