Statement

I have always loved rain. I love the way that it sounds, the way that it smells and the feel of it on my skin. Rain makes everything look shiny, fresh and alive.

When my brothers and I were children our mother would allow us to run in the rain (absent thunder and lightning of course). We loved rolling in wet grass, jumping in puddles and feeling the rain on our faces.

My favorite season is spring. As I watch all of the green appear from the ground and from the trees I know that without the rain there would be no green. Without the rain we wouldn’t have our beautiful forests. We wouldn’t have our fields and food to sustain us. Without the rain we wouldn’t have the beauty and fresh water of our streams, river and lakes.

I have created my Parasol of Japanese Ogura Lace Paper. Through the many holes in the paper, I have dropped raindrop beads from poppies of beaded paper.

I’m sure that your umbrella will not have all of the holes that mine has but should it have one or two holes and you find a few drops of rain falling on your face---just remember that it is “Our Most Precious Gem”
