Statement

Elements of nature have been collected and categorized since the beginning of humankind. ‘Butterfly Box’ is my personal version of a cabinet of curiosities, a place to display and enjoy the many treasures of the natural world.
However, rather than displaying trapped and pinned specimens, my intention is to create a living curio box, where butterflies and other insects may come and go freely.

Nature provides an endless supply of beauty, inspiration, education and wonder. Keeping our eyes open is the key to delightful discovery.

Process: Linen base layered with handmade papers, teabags, vintage and stamped images. Embellished with hand and machine stitching, beading and machine stitched butterflies.
