Statement
The circles and cycles
theme and our training workshop on the tragic day of September 11, 2001
kept me on family, friends, needlearts, and how they enrich my life. I
‘cycled’ back to the fiber art skills I learned from my mother, my
grandmother, friends. Since I do mostly quilting now, I incorporated my favorite block – the 9-patch. I started with the grand idea of embellishing all of the blocks differently, but ended with 4 different designs surrounded by one design repeated, each with a different thread. The four designs used embroidery, couching, beading, and appliqué. I repeated the 9-patch theme on the back as a tribute to 9/11 – nine blocks with only 2 stitched: nine, one, one. |
