Statement

An old song said, “A rainbow round my shoulders makes me happy!” Further, I love rainbows! Their beauty reminds me of God’s promise of hope and I love using them in my art. This garment gives me that rainbow—in flowers on green vines.

Taken separately, the colors mean many things to me. Red is a symbol for courage and recently has come to symbolize my new-found “sisters” in the Red Hat Society. Orange reminds me of “Hail to the Orange and Blue” of my Illini days. Yellow, the color of sunshine, brings zest to my life—much like the beads in the center of each flower. Green is all around us in grass, plants and leaves of all sorts. Blue symbolizes the vast sky and blue-green, water.

Violet or purple, though, in all its many hues is my favorite color! Friends consider it my signature and  I was delighted to find that it is part of official Red Hat Society gear.
