| Statement
For the Chinese Emperor, the wearing of a Dragon Robe symbolized his position as ruler over the Chinese nation. Dragon Robes were worn at special occasions and ceremonies and were filled with many different symbols. For example, only the Emperor was allowed to wear a robe made in the colour yellow, or have a dragon symbol with five claws. My family “Dragon Robe” displays many different symbols that represent the people who make up our family. It is yellow to symbolize the importance of family. The brocade stripes represent the mountains that lift the family up to the highest it can be, making us strong. Each circle with its beaded embroidery symbols, represents a family member. All the symbols together make up our unique family.
