Making a hat was not high on my to do list! When Women's Journeys in Fiber decided on hats as the next project with Wise Women Speak as the theme. For me that brought to mind the old saying, “Bees in my bonnet.”

I knew the saying reflected ideas and thinking but where did it come from? I did a Google search and learned more than I needed to know. Bottom line, it does relate to being wise, but more to being obsessed. So I became obsessed with anything and everything I found that suggested the letter “B.”

There are at least 63 “B” items on or in my hat. The obvious are the bright yellow capital B and the blossoms of the side bouquet. Less are the buckram form of the crown and the brocade lining. Many thanks to a friend for donating her Betty Boop button. It adds a touch of whimsy. The crystal butterfly stick pin, a gift from my best friend, adds a touch of class. There are two words starting with B, with one spelled using plastic beads – does that count as one or two Bs. I chose one.

I still have another unused “B”s. I guess I will need to make a matching “bag” to carry this obsessions even further. Ha! This wise woman knows when to quit!
