Statement
I began with a straw cowboy hat with a cowgirl angel perched on top. It morphed into my mother’s Christian Dior chapeau. The angel became a wise grandmotherly guardian An antique collar became the angel’s dress. Dangling decorations were chosen because I liked the pieces and their color. My great-grandmother’s circular gold earrings and the thimble are family keepsakes. Angel shoulder pins gave me the idea for a protective hat angel. I consulted two books on angels for guidance. At 92, I do believe we need more guidance in today’s world. As I made my hat I could virtually feel the designer, Christian Dior, with me. I dedicate the hat to my mother’s elegant memory. |
