Statement
There are many organisms that help control pests in the garden. Natural changes in the environment including weather, climate and disease affect their lives and ours. Humans intervene by using insecticides and genetically modifying crops. There are natural enemies of many garden pests. The little Lady Beetle dines on aphids. The spiders weave webs that trap pesky gnats. Mantids feed on many insects as do Dragonflies and Damselflies. Then there are the pollinators, butterflies and bees. The soft green base of this hat was once a cocoon. A wise woman learns to recognize her friends. |
