Statement
I have always loved fiber; its texture, colors, motion and versatility. I am forever drawn to it. I’ve sewn it, embroidered with it, knitted it, coiled with it and used it in multidimensional ways. Most of my pieces are “Woman Themed.” Sculptural art masks are one of my passions, so I decided to combine a Mask/hat for this project. This is the result. My Mask/Hat is a combination of wire, cotton, wool and metallic fibers, embellished with bells. I weave and coil the fiber. I shape the wires of the mask as I weave. I design as I go along. It’s a labor intensive process, but I love it. It brings me joy. |
