Statement

Hats can be used to represent many different aspects of our lives. We can sometimes tell what a person’s profession is by the type of hat they wear: a chef’s hat, a hard hat, a policeman’s hat, a nurse’s hat, etc.

People are sometimes referred to as “wearing a different hat” when they switch to do a different job or activity from what they were previously doing.

As mothers, we tend to wear many different hats: a wife’s hat, a chef’s hat, a nurse’s hat, a doctor’s hat, a financial advisor’s hat, a chauffeur’s hat, a cleaner’s hat, just to name a few. It seems as if we are constantly changing from one hat to another and sometimes wearing two or more at the same time.

I used the colours to represent the many different types of hats that mothers have to wear: nurse, cook, therapist, wife, Mum, financial advisor, chauffeur, cleaner. For Mums, the list never seems to end.
