Again the subject is flowers. They entertain me for hours!

Many hats are embellished with flowers and I wanted to add my rendition to the mix. I started by making big colorful flowers in fabrics of reds, yellows, gold and violet. They needed some highlights – so I strung beads which added the suggestion of stamens and pistils. I made the stems out of heavy wire so that I could twist and turn them to various positions.

I didn’t expect to make a hat that someone would wear unless it would be for a special occasion. And really all of these hats are SPECIAL. My hat did grow a little heavier than I had wanted. I cannot imagine anyone wearing it for any length of time. At any rate this is my “Happy Hat” and I would hope that it could put a smile on most viewers faces. Aren’t flowers fabulous however they are presented?
