And what could be more beautiful than peacock-inspired sandals?

The colours of the bodies and tails of peacocks have always fascinated me. Over the years I have taken many photographs of them, some of which I used when designing the lace for my shoes. Peacocks also influenced the choice of fabric for my wedding dress: I used a Liberty of London silk with peacock feathers in the weave.

The upper parts of these sandals were made with hundreds of yards of silk and metallic threads and fine wire, using bobbin lace techniques. While I intended to use remnants from my wedding dress on the soles and heels of my sandals, the fabric would not accept dyes. Instead I covered the base that my shoes are sitting on with the remnants of my wedding dress and used a turquoise Dupioni silk on the soles and heels.
