Statement

Why would I be interested in footwear? I spend most of my time barefooted. Maybe something in felt would be interesting. My felting experience began when our weaver's guild decided to make a yurt. That project incorporated many phases of working with wool, from the sheep to the finished felted fabric.

I suspect many have done some felting ñ mostly by accident! This was the case with a beautiful Aran Isle sweater my mother had hand knitted. No one knows how it got into the washing machine and mistakenly agitated, beaten and spun to half of it's former size. It was definitely felted! I cut it apart, making two piles of equal pieces. I expected to make a pair of boots.

After sewing the parts into boot shapes, I began to embellish them with beads, buttons and ribbons, but was displeased with the outcome. Then I decided they could make it on their own. I filled them with flowers and the boots became containers.
