“Fire and Ice” was my favorite lipstick when I was in college. In searching for interesting opposites for this Paradigm Shift, I remembered this and, surprisingly, found a tube of it among my assorted stuff.

I love to bead, so I decided to bead the “Ice” part to look like icicles.  I had a glitch in my plans because a fall on my left knee sent me to the hospital and then to Rehab for the month of July. However, I was able to visit my home long enough to collect the beads and supplies needed for my” Ice”. I managed to complete the necklace between therapy sessions, much to the fascination of the staff and fellow patients.

After I returned home,” I found some fabric for the “Fire” that I had painted in an NSNG workshop several years ago.  I added metallic acrylic paint, machine embroidery and, of course, beads to complete the flames.  The background fabric was designed by Caryl Bryer Fallert for Benartex Fabrics.  It is called “Glacier Park” I bought it in her shop in Paducah in 2011, intending to use it on the back of some future quilt.  I like its serenity as a background for my “Fire and Ice”.
