Statement
In 1963 I made my first shift in black linen. The pattern was from Vogue Fabrics in Evanston. This dress was so successful that I made it in red velvet for the holidays. Summer inspired me to make yet another in navy with a miniature beige print. I love everything about the shift. Not only is it comfortable and flattering, it is always right for any occasion. Through the years my interest in Oriental Art has grown. This has been the inspiration for this shift, which is made from one of my favorite oriental robes. Just as with Japanese Obis and robes, this one is made lined with another beautifully designed fabric. The simplicity of overall form is coupled with the complexity of surface design. |
