Seeds of friendship were planted at birth.
A garden full of flowers began to sprout from the earth.
Days pass with sunshine and rain,
sprinkling journeys of much joy and pain.
My family and friends, women and girls,
so different from straight hair to curls.
Each is my paintbrush, they inspire me to create.
I look forward to our time, sometimes it is hard to wait.
I rush to meet one in the pouring rain.
Chicago wind grabs my umbrella and turns it inside out again.
