Statement

is a Peace Dove to spread her wings of grace over our tender, bruised, and endangered “Blue Planet,” to “gather Earth’s children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,” and remind all who dwell upon the Earth to care for one another and our Earthly home.

My project has been inspired by
Deuteronomy 32:11
“like an eagle that stirs up its nest
and hovers over its young,
that spreads its wings to catch them
and carries them on its pinions.”

And Luke 13:34
“…how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings…”

The nest is made of the trimmings from NSNG’s Days for Girls service project, lined with trimmings from Sue Babbs’ bobbin lace creations, found feathers, and cat fur. Planet Earth is depicted as the “Blue Planet” as it is seen from space by Astronauts. The Peace Dove herself is constructed from the leftover lining from my daughter Julie’s living room drapes and embellished with the lace remaining from my daughter Lisa’s wedding veil.
