Statement
Boxes: The variety is endless - packing boxes, shoe boxes, treasure boxes, take out boxes, mail boxes, hat boxes, flower boxes, and many more. Thinking about these endless possibilities, flower boxes caught my imagination. A window flower box, or a box covered with flowers or a flower that is a box? A flower that is a box was the answer! Which flower? A rose, of course! Why? To honor Rose, a dear friend and an inspiration! At 93 always a willing participant in many adventures; she was interested and interesting. Curiosity kept her young. We shared a love of sewing, innovations using new sewing and embroidery machines, and puzzled about technique and patterns. So for her this flower box is a ROSE! The base is constructed from clothesline wrapped with fabric and stitched into two bowl shapes. The petals are stiffened with stabilizers and glued or stitched to the top and bottom bowl shapes which create the “flower box”. |
