Statement

Margaret Olive Sneesby was alert and active until weeks before her death. When asked to be a 4-H leader in Gurnee, IL, in the late 1940s, Margaret said “yes.” And so her life as a Lake County Cooperative Extension Service volunteer leader began. She took up Rosemaling, Norwegian folk art painting, in her 60s; and painted award winning pieces. At age 80, she started teaching Rosemaling and continued until she was 95.

There was never a time when Margaret was inactive. Her keepsakes reflect that. As an active senior, she met cousins in Norway and a New Zealand pen pal of some 50 years. She, along with my father, rode camels in Egypt, learned about native dress in Kenya and Fiji, and shopped for black opals in Australia.

In fact, just short of 101 years, she was still involved. She was a highly respected VOLUNTEER!
