Statement
In sorting through many years of photographs I found back and white negatives from an early photography class. At the north end of the Art Institute along Michigan Avenue, were a series of concrete benches. Using the benches to fill the frame, I captured the many ways people of all ages used these benches. One of the men said “Hey honey, you going to put me in the Rogues Gallery?” Over the years, I have used these images, to create block prints and paintings in the colors that the personalities reflected. While in a high school print making class my daughter used one of the images to create a notepad which she gave to me. The negatives were transferred to a digital format which allowed me to print them on cloth, stitch them together, and present them in a new way. |
