Do you remember a time….
When you took the time?

That moment as a child when you picked a flower, time stood still; there wasn’t a care in the world as you lost yourself in the aura of its lingering fragrance, soft petals and colorful beauty. Days were sunny, our thoughts carefree; lost in the innocence of childhood.

In time, storm clouds of life gathered in the distance, and the rumblings of adulthood could be heard. Before long these clouds hung over us, dark with the cares that now preoccupy our once creative minds.

I wrote the words that represent my cares, the things that tug and pull at me every day, and sculpted them into storm clouds. They are the things that I try too hard to be perfect at; things that are both a blessing and a burden; things I juggle in an attempt to find balance.

Somewhere within us is a little child who yearns to let the cares fall to the ground as we clutch a beautiful flower, letting every sense of our being inhale it deeply. How I long to “stop and smell the roses,” a cliché but a truth and to cherish the little moments in life that make the sun shine upon dreary skies. I am learning more with each passing day, to make choices and find balance for my soul.

Never let the child-like innocence be clouded out by your storm clouds. Life is just too short.
