I’ve traveled meditatively to my personal utopia, Whidbey Island, Washington State. This magnificent island is a stunningly beautiful collection of peaceful communities ideal for recharging one’s creativity and spirituality. When physical travel allows, you will most likely find me here. The process of creating this TIME TRAVEL postcard was a delight on many levels.

My choice of medium used to create this piece is 100% cotton drill fabric, a type of canvas made in India. The composition is hand painted with water colors and embellished with free motion stitching. The rich color of the paint highlights the dazzling colors of the Pacific Northwest, from the delicious Penn Cove mussels in her basket to the Dungeness crab in her hand.

The depiction of a postcard is the perfect way to showcase the beauty of the island. The aspect of time travel is evident in the cursive writing of the postcards message “Having a wonderful time, wish you were here”.

P.S. Note the intentional coffee stain on the reverse side of the postcard as an homage to the flagship Starbucks - only an hour away in Seattle!
