Statement

The inspiration for this piece came one day when I was drinking a cup of tea. I loved the Mighty Leaf tea bags so much that I decided to collect them. After a while I had a box of dried Ginger tea bags and the idea of making my own T Bag was conceived.

To do so, meant taking on a new challenge that included taking classes in book and box making so that I could make a box with a shelf and a drawer. As a result, I also have a new vocabulary that includes grain, bone folder, methyl cellulose and hinge.

In addition to Mighty Leaf tea bags, other materials used to make my bag include book board, handmade paper, tea-dyed silk, PVC, methyl cellulose glue and wire mesh. The handle is a bamboo tea whisk. As every T Bag needs a tea pot, the Japanese tea pot is a special gift from a friend.

I now have a new understanding of precision and prototype. What will we think of next? I can only imagine what it will be.
