Statement
I have thought much about life in recent years. How we start out in innocence. How our experience changes us, often forcing us to wear a mask for protection of that inner self—that child still innocent and sweet within us. Recently, I rediscovered a wonderful classic by Rollo May, The Courage to Create.” There he referenced Marianne Moore’s poem, What Are Years? I offer it as part of my work for your thoughtful contemplation. My purse was constructed from “birds nest” paper from Thailand, sewn with hemp cord and embellished with both natural and man-made materials. Two dear friends cared enough about my feelings for the continuity of my concept to deliver actual birds nests into my hands. They give life to this vision. |
