Statement

Color and Texture are strong design elements and prominent in a “weaver’s world”.

Texture is tactile—you can see it and feel it.

Color is a concept-–you can see it and feel it.

We are drawn to both because of the way they make us “feel”.

Like most artists I am very color sensitive. I am drawn to the same colors time after time when choosing yarns for new designs. When shopping for clothes I gravitate to the same colors and I fill my home with those colors that make me feel good.

I have a friend who is blind. She is also a weaver and an exceptional communicator. I once asked her how she knows about colors. She replied, “color is a concept”. We all see a color differently. I think that explains why we each have a favorite color.

All colors have meaning. It seems to me that I choose colors based on how I feel or what I want to convey at a particular moment.

Stimulating—Red
Romantic—Pink
Intellect—Gray
Happy-Yellow
Authoritative—Black
Purity—White
Flamboyant—Orange
Tranquil—Green
Trustworthy—Blue
Mystic—Purple

It all depends on my mood or the image that I want to portray. But—always and forever—I know that Harmony and Peace are the words that define my needs and surrounding myself with GREEN always makes me feel good.
