Statement
I've always thought cooking was an "art form" – it just wasn't my "art form." I admire women who prepare gourmet meals. They put hours and hours of work into every detail. I wondered if they photographed their works of art before everyone indulged in their delightful meals and they disappeared. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much time on an "art form" that vanished before my eyes. Therefore, when I chose an "art form", I chose fiber--which can and sometimes will endure forever. For this project, I decided to glamorize the apron form with some sparkle and shine. My title "Woman Leaves the Kitchen" is also incorporated in the piece by the use of leaves to embellish the work. Techniques in this fiber piece include sewing, weaving, wrapping and coiling—plus many hours of joy! – Good Ways, Good Days |
