Statement

My inspiration for this project came as a result of finding over 100 new metallic colored shoelaces ranging in length from 32" to 82" long. The apron is handwoven using an 8 dent reed in Basket and Plain weave patterns. None of the laces was cut in the process, so you'll see the plastic ends poking through here and there. These are called "AGLETS" which comes from Old French "aguillette" meaning needle. They have several functions: preventing ends from fraying, making laces easier to hold, and they make them easier to pass through the eyelets.

May the warp be the white light of morning,
May the weft be the red light of evening,
May the fringes be the falling rain,
May the border be the standing rainbow,
Thus weave for us a garment of brightness.
