Statement

This apron has got to be one of the least likely to be used as an apron!

An homage to needle workers, it is a wonderful collection of many kinds of needlework: tatting, crochet, embroidery, and many others including manufactured laces.

Doilies – there are so many beautiful ones, too bad they seem to be a thing of the past. They are so useful in so many ways. I knew that I wanted to use them in my apron, as well as some wonderful pieces of lace that I have been collecting.

With me the subject is usually flowers, and manipulating pieces
of lace and doilies to represent flowers was a natural. I am familiar with most of the techniques used in the 'Flowers' created but have not spent time perfecting the processes. Like so many of us, I don't find the time to devote to them in this fast-paced world. (Part of the problem with me is that I have the attention span of a gnat: concept is fun, execution is tedious!)

Dollies and laces do not seem to be very popular at present and aprons
are in the same category: "seldom seen." Here are some that are "out-
of-the-closet" and hopefully some people are enjoying them.

Like many of the aprons on view here, this one is totally useless as such,
but it gives one another look at the past.
